Oral Microbiology at Leeds Dental Institute, United Kingdom

Philip Marsh is Professor of Oral Microbiology at Leeds Dental Institute, UK, and is Programme Leader for the TB & Public Health Microbiology group at the Centre for Emergency Prepared-ness & Response, Health Protection Agency, Salisbury, UK. He has published over 125 research papers and 90 review articles, and is co-author of a leading text book on oral microbiology. Dr. Marsh has received numerous awards for his work including a Life-time Achievement Award from the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry in 2008. His research interests include oral biofilms, oral microbial ecology, environmental factors regulating the oral microflora in health and disease, and cross-infection in dentistry (dental unit water systems and prions). He is also involved with research on vaccines against tuberculosis.
